In a Black family it’s always sweet potatoes says Michael Twitty

Kosher chef and food historian Michael Twitty has taken to Instagram to show off his sweet potato skills just in time for the holidays. If you aren’t already following him on Instagram @thecookinggene , then you’re missing out on some serious food content. The James Beard Award winning author of The Cooking Gene, recently released another book titled Rice. The cookbook features 51 recipes Twitty uses to trace the history of rice and how it became a staple in many African and African-American homes.

Recently , Twitty  wrote a list for “The non Black person’s guide to Black Thanksgiving” and it’s hilarious. Check out Twitty’s Instagram posts below.
